Heartless – C. Lee McKenzie

About Lee:

I’m someone in love with the English language...well, any language for that matter. How did we decided to use words, intonation, structures to communicate? Does our language come from our culture or does our culture come from our language? I love to drive people nuts with questions like this.

I have a background in Linguistics and Inter-Cultural Communication, but these days my greatest passion is writing for young readers. Some Very Messy Medieval Magic is the third book in the time-travel adventures of Pete and Weasel, with Alligators Overhead and The Great TimeLock Disaster being the first two. Sign of the Green Dragon, another book for young readers, jumps into ancient Chinese dragon myths and a quest for treasure.

My young adult novels are Sliding on the Edge, The Princess of Las Pulgas, Double Negative, and Sudden Secrets. When I’m not writing I’m hiking or traveling or practicing yoga or asking a lot questions about things I still don’t understand--like what is language anyway?

Tick Tock: A Stitch In Crime

Heartless by C. Lee McKenzie

  1. Hi, Cheryl-Lee!

If I may butcher the English language a bit, I want you to know that I like where your head's at. :) Where would we be w/o words, dear friend?

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver-white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

...and so are words and word play. The wait is over and its high time Tick Tock lands on book shelves w/o another second of delay. :) I hope your Heartless story and all the others in the anthology are praised by readers and critics alike and that you gain even greater recognition as a result of it.

    Congratulations, dear friend Cheryl-lee!
